Job Description

Job Summary

1. Patient Accompaniment & Coordination

· Accompany patients and their caretaker to FMIC for all treatment steps (OPD and IPD), considering their specific needs, especially those raised by protection team.

· Coordinate with FMIC doctors and nurses, CDE’s team to record diagnoses, indications, and recommendations, including reasons for non-indicated surgeries or postponed procedures.

· Provide clear explanations of treatment plans, doctor recommendations, and pre-/post-operative care to beneficiaries and families, while upholding privacy and confidentiality

· Respond to the patients’ enquiries received by phone, refer or share the information according to the needs and requests of the patients.

· Prepare medical missions by updating lists, organizing hard files, and documenting clear nursing notes. Provide comprehensive reports at the end of missions.

· Maintain and update hard files daily; archive ongoing and completed treatment files systematically.

2. Inpatient Care & Monitoring

· Conduct daily inpatient visits and report findings to the Medical Team Leader.

· Immediately escalate critical issues related to the medical condition (e.g., deteriorating conditions, prolonged stays, additional procedures, ICU admissions, DNR cases, or deaths) or related to the functioning of the hospital or WCH that is affecting the health of the patients.

· Support patients during discharge and deliver clear information on post-surgery conditions, discharge instructions, and home care.

3. Outpatient Support

· Support patients in collecting medical exam results (laboratory, imaging, MRI, CT scans, etc.).

· Support patient in collecting prescribed medicines from the FMIC pharmacy and ensure proper delivery to beneficiaries.

4. Case Follow-Up & Professional Development

· Provide thorough follow-up on assigned cases and pathologies (appointment reminder through phone calls, calls of patients who didn’t come to appointments.).

· Strengthen technical expertise through research and presentations.

· Share findings with nursing colleagues to enhance team knowledge.

· Actively participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

5. Awareness raising session

· Develop or collect materials and tools for medical awareness sessions.

· Organize awareness raising sessions in the WCH for the patients and their caretakers, on medical care (pre-, post-operation care, health related issues…).

· Adapt the topics of the awareness sessions to the needs of the patients and their caretakers.

· Liaise with the Protection team and Nutrition Team to provide more comprehensive and quality health care in WCH.

5. Data Management & Administration

· Ensure accuracy in data entry and administrative procedures.

· Register new beneficiaries through FMIC reception and complete documentation (e.g., discharge forms, death certificates).

· Prepare and submit timely reports on deceased patients (whether in hospital or at home), immediately notify the Medical Team Leader, and ensure the information is accurately updated in the database.

6. Beneficiary Support & Psychosocial Care in FMIC and WCH

· In collaboration with Protection team, conduct daily physical counts of patients p in FMIC and in WCH to present CDE’s missions, rules and offer advice.

· Provide active listening and basic psychosocial support (PSS) to children and adults, based on the training received, in FMIC and WCH.

· Offer guidance to beneficiaries regarding treatment and wellbeing.

· Conduct daily rounds in FMIC and WCH, observing patient and family medical conditions, and report critical events immediately to the medical team leader or to protection team (including PSEA) if needed.

· Adapt the organization of the activities according to the needs of the patients and their families.

7. Emotional Support & Protection

· Reassure patients and their caretakers during stressful situations, explaining surgery risks in appropriate ways.

· Address beneficiaries’ needs , with special attention to the wellbeing and safety of girls and women, in line with CDE Protection policies.

Coordinate with Social Care Facilitators and supervisors when specialized psychological attention is required.8. Additional responsibilities

· Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager, program coordinator or head of mission when it is relevant for the assignment of the nurse and for the smooth running of CDE’s activities.

Job Requirements

Required skills

· Ability to work in shifts according to the team schedule arranged by the Team Leader

· Strong teamwork and communication skills

· Patience, flexibility and adaption to the patients and to the caretaker, especially in case of special needs are identified

· Adhesion to PSEA principles

· Ability to ensure patient confidentiality and to ensure the do not harm principles

Contract conditions

· Working Days: Alternate days

· Working Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM / According to the needs for the activities 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
