Job Purpose
The Market Linkage Officer will facilitate connections between project beneficiaries, businesses, employers, buyers, suppliers, service providers, and other market actors to improve access to markets, employment opportunities, business networks, and sustainable income-generating opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market assessments to identify market opportunities and potential business linkages.
- Identify buyers, suppliers, employers, private-sector companies, traders, and service providers.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant market actors.
- Facilitate business-to-business and beneficiary-to-market linkages.
- Support beneficiaries to access local and regional markets.
- Identify employment and business opportunities in collaboration with employers and private-sector actors.
- Support job fairs, networking events, market events, and other linkage activities.
- Provide beneficiaries with relevant market information, including demand, prices, trends, and potential customers.
- Support development of business linkages and partnerships.
- Coordinate with the Livelihoods Officer and Skills Mapping and Job Matching/MIS Officer.
- Work closely with the Agronomist on agricultural value-chain and market opportunities.
- Document market linkage activities, referrals, partnerships, and outcomes.
- Monitor results and sustainability of established linkages.
- Maintain an updated database of relevant market actors and opportunities.
- Contribute to project reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Project Manager.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agriculture economics, value chain development, marketing, business development, or related field.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in post-harvest handling, aggregation, grading, packaging, storage, buyer linkage, or market systems.
- Experience with high-value crops preferred.
